2021 CASBO Spring Digital Certification Classes

April 8 - 9, 2021

The Arkansas Association of School Business Officials (AASBO) has scheduled six CASBO certification classes for April 8-9 via Zoom only.  Plan on participating and learn valuable information and updates in public school finance. 

 

The six classes scheduled for April 8-9 will include three “Required" level classes and three “Elective” level classes that may count toward CASBO certification and/or General Business Manager (GBM) requirements.  If you need more details about the CASBO certification program, click here

SF102 School Account Coding (CASBO Required-Level Class)

Instructor: Stacy Hopkins, Business Manager, Pangburn School District

Description: Introductory course covering the requirements of school account coding

regarding the coding structure, coding specifics, and yearly updates and how it impacts

local decisions, budgets and the funding matrix.

IM101 Introduction to Information Management (CASBO Required-Level Class)

Instructor: Terri Raskiewicz, CFO, Siloam Springs School District

Description: An introductory class on IM topics such as planning, scheduling, control, 

staff, and functions.

RM101 Introduction to Risk Management (CASBO Required-Level Class)

Instructor: Kevin Luck, Business Manager, Vilonia School District

Description: Introductory class covering applicable laws, risk exposure, types of Insurance, 

claims, and reporting.

SF226 ESSER Therapy Panel (CASBO Elective-Level Class)

Panel: Charles Warren, Melody Crane, Dan Breshears

Description: This class will focus on how three (3) districts are surviving the changes 

brought on by the pandemic, such as assessing the way ESSER funds have been spent, 

how to spend future ESSER funds, how ESSER funds may impact MOE, prioritizing and 

planning for the uncertainty of enrollment, staffing, funding, and learning loss. You will 

quickly realize they do not know all the answers, but they hope to talk about it will 

prove therapeutic.

SM212 Ask the Experts Panel - Credit Cards, On-Line Processes & Fixed Assets (CASBO

Elective-Level Class)

Panel: Renee Farris, Sabrina Jordan, Tina Wiley, Donna Adkins

Description: Panel of experienced school business officials to discuss the processes, procedures,

and internal controls associated with credit cards, on-line processes, and fixed assets.

SF403 Legislative Updates (CASBO Elective-Level Class)

Instructor: Mike Mertens, Asst. Executive Director, AAEA

Description: Class focuses on new legislation from the 2021 Legislative Session relating to 

school finance.

AAEA Member - $30 per class.    Non Member - $45 per class
