The Board of Directors of the Arkansas Association of School Business Officials recognizes the need for board members to keep abreast of new trends in the business operation of public schools by attending state, national and regional conferences. Therefore, the following policy is established to be used in determining approval for a request to attend a national or regional conference.

EXPENSES TO NATIONAL AND REGIONAL CONFERENCES SHALL BE PAID AS FOLLOWS

President – All expenses to the Association of School Business Officials National Conference and to the Southern Association of School Business Officials (SASBO) Regional Conference.

President-Elect – All expenses to the Association of School Business Officials National Leadership Conference.

Vice-President & Secretary-Treasurer – All expenses to the Southeastern Association of School Business Officials (SASBO) Leadership Conference.

Board Members – Registration to one of the following: Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International Conference or SASBO Regional Conference.

AAEA Executive Director – AASBO will pay all expenses of any AASBO National or Regional Conference attended.

Arkansas SASBO State Director and/or SASBO Officer – All expenses to SASBO Board meetings and Conferences not paid by SASBO. In the event we have a newly elected SASBO State Director, AASBO will pay the expenses for the current SASBO State Director and the newly elected SASBO State Director to attend the regional conference at which the newly elected director will be introduced.

Presenters at National or Regional ASBO Meetings – If there is a need for an AASBO member to attend a SASBO Board Meeting due to their involvement as assigned by AASBO of an agenda item, AASBO will pay all expenses not paid by SASBO.

Special Speakers – The Board must approve expenses for speakers to the Association of School Business Officials National Conference and the SASBO Regional Conference.

CASBO Session Facilitator – The expenses of a CASBO facilitator will be paid by AASBO, including lodging and travel expenses, if the facilitator’s sole purpose for being at the training is to serve as a facilitator. (The Chairperson of the CASBO Committee or their designee will serve as facilitator of the CASBO Training.)

In-State Travel – For in-state travel, the association will reimburse board members at the current state-approved rate per mile. In the event that a Board member (or the Board’s designee) is employed by a district that is unable or unwilling to pay for travel incurred when the sole purpose of the travel is to fulfill AASBO duties as a committee member or representative, AASBO will reimburse the member or designee at the current state-approved rate per mile.
