The 43rd Annual AAEA Summer Conference will be held July 30-August 1, 2018, at the Marriott Hotel & Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.  We hope you will register online today to attend Arkansas' largest administrator conference of the year.  The AAEA Summer Conference is a great event with excellent keynote speakers (Buddy Berry and Julie Weatherly), close to 50 informative breakout sessions, constituent board meetings, exhibitors, and plenty of opportunities to network with fellow administrators. We look forward to seeing you - July 30-August 1!

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

We are happy to announce that Buddy Berry will open the 2018 AAEA Summer Conference promoting the conference theme, "How to Set Your School on F.I.R.E." Dr. Berry reimagined Eminence Independent Schools to design a next generation “Dream School” rooted in personalized learning and centered around innovation and creativity. The Eminence Independent School District has redesigned its instructional experience for kindergarten through 12th-grade students with its Framework of Innovation for Reinventing Education (F.I.R.E.) model using online, blended, and competency-based education in their quest to be the Disney World of Schools.

His School on F.I.R.E. model is currently in its seventh full year of implementation. Dr. Berry is in his 9th year as Superintendent of Eminence Independent Schools and his team’s success has allowed him to be invited to the White House twice, the first as one of the 100 top school Superintendents in America at their only National Connected Superintendents Summit. Dr. Berry’s work and school district have also been the focus of numerous media and news stories recently released by Edutopia (George Lucas Films) for several upcoming video series.

Julie Weatherly will present "Staying Out of Deep Due Due Process" during the Breakfast General Session on Wednesday morning, August 1.  Julie is the owner of Resolutions in Special Education, Inc. with attorneys in Birmingham and Mobile, Alabama, and Naples, Florida. She is a member of the State Bars of Alabama and Georgia, and for almost 30 years, has provided legal representation and consultative services to school districts and other agencies in the area of educating students with disabilities. She has been a member of the faculty for many national and state legal institutes and is a frequent speaker at special education law conferences.
