The Arkansas Association of School Business Officials (AASBO) has scheduled six sessions of certification classes for Thursday, November 2 & Friday, November 3 at the Four Points Hotel located at 925 S. University Avenue, Little Rock, AR.  Plan on attending the classes and learn valuable information and updates in public school finance as well as meeting and networking with other school business officials from throughout the state.  

If you are unable to attend onsite in Little Rock, the CASBO classes will be “live streamed” as an alternative option.  To “live stream” the CASBO classes, you must create an account through ArkansasIDEAS.  If you have previously live streamed classes you can use your existing ArkansasIDEAS account.  To create an account, go to:


Live streaming registration closes Wednesday, October 25, with no exceptions.  Do not delay!

CPE Credit for CPAs NOW AVAILABLE for three of the CASBO classes!!!


If you are a CPA, three of the CASBO classes on November 2-3 qualify for CPE credit in the following fields of study:

  • SF104 Basic Accounting Procedures:  Accounting

  • IM101 Intro to Information Management:  Business Management & Organization

  • RM101 Intro to Risk Management:  Finance


The following conditions must be met as well:

  • You must attend in person

  • You must sign in & sign out and complete other paperwork onsite

  • While registering, please check the appropriate box if you wish to sign up for the CPE credit and list your CPA license number

  • No Prerequisites are needed

  • Who Should Attend?  Superintendents & School Business Officials including CPAs

  • Advanced preparation:  Class presentation material will be sent to all participants to preview before the classes

  • Program Level:  Basic

  • Delivery Method:  Group-Live

You are encouraged to register as soon as possible.  Online registration will close on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Registration:  AAEA/AASBO Member - $30 per class.    Non Member - $45 per class


PLEASE NOTE:  You have two options when registering for this event.  

  • Onsite Attend the CASBO classes in person

  • Live Streaming Participate in the CASBO classes by viewing on your computer  (Streaming not available for CPAs wanting CPE credit)

Description:  A comprehensive overview of the FMLA law including the duties and responsibilities of the employer and rights of the employee.

12:10 - 2:10          SF104 Basic Accounting Procedures

                                       Instructor:  Jake Haak, CFO, Rogers Public Schools

                                       Description:  Introduction to basic accounting principles and procedures.


2:20 - 4:20            PS201 Intermediate Purchasing/Sales & Use Tax Update

             Instructors:  Jake Haak, CFO, Rogers Public Schools and DF&A Staff

Description: A course to provide guidance on purchasing procedures and policies including bid requirements and specifications/Sales & Use tax update.

9:00 - 11:00           MO101 Introduction to Plant Operations

Instructor:  Dusty Duncan, Facilities Manager, Marion School District

Description:  Introductory class covering staffing, scheduling, standards, policies, preventive maintenance, recurring maintenance, and record keeping.


11:00 - 12:00        Lunch on your own


12:10 - 2:10          IM101 Introduction to Information Management

                                        Instructor:  Freeman Wish, Business Manager, Clarksville School


             Description:  An introductory class on IM topics such as planning, scheduling, control, staff and functions.


2:20 - 4:20              RM101 Introduction to Risk Management

     Instructor:  Kevin Luck, Business Manager, Vilonia School District                                                                                                                          Description:  Introductory class covering applicable laws, risk exposure, types of insurance, claims, and reporting.
